Nightline

The pressures of student life can get pretty intense, and coupled with the changes that come with moving away from home, it can become an isolating and lonely time. NightLine have branches all over the UK, based in local universities. They’re there for you to talk about what’s bothering you, and they’re there to listen. NSHN.co.uk

NSHN is an online forum that lets you talk with other people about all sorts of things in a safe, controlled environment. Forum members help each other out, talk about the mechanisms that result in self-harm, and how to cope with it and related problems. There are members who self-harm, friends & family, and other support groups.

The Mix

The Mix is a support service for under 25s, available 365 days a year. They’re there to help you take on any challenge you’re facing – from mental health to money, from homelessness to finding a job, from break-ups to drugs.

You can talk to them on the phone, by email, online chat, and a crisis text line. They can also help you find support services in your local area.

ChildLine

ChildLine is one of the UK’s biggest charities – it’s a private and confidential service for young people up to the age of 19. You can contact a Childline counsellor about anything at all – there’s nothing too big or too small. You can speak to someone by phone or through their website. Their site is also a great place to explore, ask questions, and make your own.

Samaritans

Samaritans are possibly the UK’s biggest support system. They exist to provide round the clock support by phone, email, or through letters. You don’t have to be suicidal to call the Samaritans – they’re there to listen to any problem that you’re facing. No matter who you are, or how big or small the issue may seem. Their number is free to call too!

OCD Action

The OCD Action Helpline is an unbiased source of information and support for people with OCD and the people in their lives. The service can offer you a safe and understanding space where you can find out more about the conditions, what can help, and how to access the right support for you or your loved one.

You can call them, or you can request that they call you first. They also offer support groups via Zoom, Skype or over the phone.
