ArcTanGent 2024
post by Si Martin
After a couple years off, we made our triumphant return to ArcTanGent festival! We had a blast throwing down to big riffs, talking about our work, slingin’ tees, and most importantly, meeting all of you!
We asked the good folks of ArcTanGent 2024 what keeps their heads above the waves. And we collated a handful of those ideas into this lil summary video! Give it a watch below (or you can click here!)
Here’s some mental health tips from ArcTanGent 2024!
Swimming
We recently launched a campaign with Reef that explores the benefits of spending time in and around water. Whether you’re swimming, surfing, or even just going for a walk, water can do wonders for both your physical and mental health. Take a deeper dive in this blog post about Blue Health we recently shared.
Running
This one actually came up a bunch. Nice one ATG audience, you runny bunch! Physical activity, unsurprisingly, is amazing for your mental health. The obvious hit of endorphins is one thing, but something that a couple of folks mentioned is the idea of motivating themselves to get up and get moving. We loved the idea of doing it as a favour to your future self. BONUS VIDEO! We explored the importance of physical activity in this video.
Music
It was bound to happen, wasn’t it. We went to a music festival and asked people what helps them and got an overwhelming response that music is a helpful thing. What’s even cooler though is that we got a range of answers around this. Making music is great for your mental health. Drumming was the thing that helped our founder Si – and is kinda the reason why HATW even exists.
But also listening to music can be super helpful too! We love finding the songs that help sum up how you’re feeling better than you can yourself. And with the ArcTanGent lineup being stacked full of instrumental bands, here’s a throwback to a playlist we made a few years back of music that can hit hard, even without words.
Wish you’d picked something up at ArcTanGent?
We had a bunch of our merch with a message at ATG, but you can also pick it up in our online store too, and we’ll deliver it straight to your door! Every time you pick up some merch with a message, you help us continue to be a resource for supporting young people who self-harm.
