Nature Sounds – A MHAW Playlist ๐ŸŒฟ

The theme for Mental Health Awareness Week this year is nature ๐ŸŒฟ!

So we thought it would be a cool idea to pop some of our favourite nature sounds in a big ole’ playlist for you! You can expect soundscapes like gentle waves crashing on pebbles , an autumnal walk surrounded by evening crickets, the delightful sounds ofย  a tropical rainforest, and big old rain drops dancing on your car window- to name a few!

We find listening to these sort of sounds super relaxing- it even helps us when we’re having trouble sleeping or when we’re having an anxiety attack. Being outside is soothing and freeing (especially after being inside for most of last year!) Of course we recommend the real deal- a bit of fresh air does you the world of good!ย But if you’re unable to be outside or just can’t face it today then sometimes just listening to sounds of the outside world can be really therapeutic.

All of these sounds won’t be for everyone but it’s about finding what works for you, and what you enjoy. What nature sound soothes you and has a lovely, chilled out memory attached to it for you?

Personally my fave is waves because I grew up by the beach. Listening to waves or beach-y sounds helps me calm down and re-focus myself when I’m having a panic attack. It helps me when I close my eyes whilst I listen to a waves track on the playlist and really picture myself there. Kinda like the Grounding 5-4-3-2-1 technique we love except I use my imagination to hone in on the things I love about my happy place (what do I see, touch, hear, smell and taste at the beach). Instant bliss! Although sometimes all the water sounds make me need a wee! ๐Ÿ˜‚

We hope you enjoy this playlist and find a nature sound that works for you!
